A little bit of history
In about 2007 one of the Equity Partnership workers, Rachel, saw the need to establish older LGB groups.
Very quickly, thanks to her relentless efforts and Equity Partnership’s support and funding, O &W became a very popular, well attended group attracting women from as far as York, Leeds, Halifax and Hebden Bridge.
Although Rachel did all the hard work of setting up everything, she always gave the group opportunities to take part in the decision making, discussions and suggestions. Over the years the O&W members have enjoyed many opportunities to participate in lovely activities, great outings or listen to very interesting speakers.
O&W has also been made aware of other activities for lesbians happening in the Bradford and West Yorkshire area. There are other Women Only Groups on the Equity Partnership website.
From February 2013 as a result of Rachel's support and guidance, the 'Older and Wilder' membership was able to take over the management of the group and its activities. By popular request we remain an affiliated group of the Equity Partnership.
Members would like to thank Rachel and the Equity Partnership for enabling us to develop into a confident, self sustaining group with a membership of 45 (October 2013).
